LA River End of Summer Festival

On Saturday, September 18, 2021, we had the opportunity to provide a free workshop at the LA River End of Summer Festival at Hollydale Park. We enjoyed a beautiful day outdoors, met new friends and celebrated the arts in our SELA community. The festival was full of local creativity and community-based activities, including live painting and performances, a LA River 5K Run/Walk hosted by River In Action (RIA) and a collaborative mural led by SELA muralist, Tetris.

Throughout the day, our teaching artist, Cindy Macias (aka cindita), guided children and families through our free workshop station, which featured jewelry making and collage postcards. We watched participants create a variety of one-of-a-kind pieces, from colorful earrings and bracelets to heartfelt ‘thank you’ cards and notes.

A big thank you to SELA Artists Guild for the invitation, and to everyone involved in making this festival possible: The San Gabriel and Lower Los Angeles Rivers and Mountains Conservancy, Assemblymember Anthony Rendon, LA County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, City of South Gate, SELA Collab, River In Action (RIA) and Nightflare.

Muchísimas gracias a SELA Artists Guild por la invitación y a todos los involucrados en hacer posible este festival: The San Gabriel and Lower Los Angeles Rivers and Mountains Conservancy, Assemblymember Anthony Rendon, LA County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, City of South Gate, SELA Collab, River In Action (RIA) and Nightflare.
